NAPWA FRIDAY NIGHT CHAOS

SEPTEMBER 11, 2026 • LIACOURAS CENTER • PHILADELPHIA, PA

After more than fourteen months away, NAPWA returned to the air with a loaded card designed to set the tone for Up From The Ashes and the six championship tournaments waiting in Atlantic City.

Opening: NAPWA Is Back

The broadcast opened with a rapid-fire video package revisiting NAPWA’s recent history: championships raised high, rivalries exploding, familiar faces such as FOE, Ian LeSabre, Jennifer Incredible, M.A. Randolph, Cousin Vinny, King Stratosphere, Malice, Brahma and Raine Barlow, followed by the silence of the 2025 shutdown. The screen went black before one message appeared: “447 DAYS LATER…” Then the NAPWA logo hit the screen with one final statement: “WE’RE BACK.”

Pyro erupted inside the Liacouras Center as the Philadelphia crowd came to its feet. Cody Lewis and Antonio Lee welcomed viewers back and immediately framed the night around the looming championship tournaments. Nobody was being handed a title back. Every championship would have to be earned again at Up From The Ashes.

CODY LEWIS: Welcome back! After more than fourteen months, the North American Professional Wrestling Alliance is alive again!

ANTONIO LEE: And everybody in that locker room knows what’s waiting for them. Six championships. Six tournaments. Four nights in Atlantic City. Nobody gets their championship handed back to them.

Lewis reminded viewers that tonight was not part of the tournaments. It was about momentum, positioning and sending a message before the brackets began. On cue, Bunyin Yang’s music hit and the first match of the revived NAPWA era was underway.

Match 1: Bunyin Yang vs. Jose Hubcap

The opening contest quickly became a test of endurance. Bunyin Yang repeatedly went to the Cambodian Claw, while Jose Hubcap continued finding ways to survive. The fight spilled outside several times, with each man narrowly beating the count on multiple occasions. As the minutes passed, the announcers began openly wondering whether these two Television Championship Tournament entrants might cross paths again in Atlantic City.

ANTONIO LEE: Think about this, Cody. You could be looking at a tournament match right now.

CODY LEWIS: And after what we’re seeing tonight, I’m not sure either man wants to see the other one again.

At the forty-one-minute mark, Yang sent Hubcap to the floor once more. This time Jose could not recover. The referee reached ten, giving Bunyin the first victory of the new era without a pinfall or submission.

WINNER: BUNYIN YANG BY COUNT-OUT

ANTONIO LEE: Yang won the match. He didn’t settle anything.

Backstage: The Process

Backstage, Lizzy stood with Ian LeSabre, Brahma and The Director Colt Heafy ahead of their tag team match against Cousin Vinny and Jimmy James. The history surrounding Ian immediately became the focus, and Heafy was quick to dismiss it as something that belonged in the past.

COLT HEAFY: Connected? Lizzy, they’re part of Ian LeSabre’s past. I’m interested in Ian LeSabre’s future.

IAN LESABRE: Actually, Colt… they’re both.

Ian explained that he had fought Jimmy and Vinny, fought beside them, and only near the end of NAPWA’s previous run had they finally put years of bitterness behind them. Brahma had no interest in the sentimental side of the story.

BRAHMA: Jimmy James. Cousin Vinny. Brahma doesn’t care about family history. Brahma cares about winning.

IAN LESABRE: And that’s why we’re teaming tonight. Jimmy. Vinny. Nothing personal. See you out there.

As Ian and Brahma walked off, the camera stayed on Colt for a moment longer. He did not look entirely pleased with Ian’s willingness to revisit those old relationships.

Match 2: Jennifer Incredible vs. Trina Hollywood

Jennifer Incredible received one of the strongest reactions of the night as she returned to singles action against Trina Hollywood. The match became an immediate reminder that the Women’s Championship Tournament will not be easy for anyone. Trina pushed Jennifer deep into the contest, connected with the Hollywood DDT and scored several close near-falls.

Jennifer survived, regained control and finally caught Trina with the Superstarr Bulldog. Three seconds later, the nine-time Women’s Champion had her first victory of the reboot.

WINNER: JENNIFER INCREDIBLE VIA SUPERSTARR BULLDOG

Jennifer did not need a microphone. She looked directly into the camera and raised ten fingers. The message was unmistakable: she already owns nine reigns, and she intends to leave Atlantic City with number ten.

Match 3: Emo Extreme vs. Stomp Machine

The tone changed completely when Chino “The Extreme Machine” Morales and Emo Hawthorne met King Malosi and Samoan Stomper Gamba. What followed was fast, chaotic and at times barely contained, with constant double-teams, ringside brawling and a powerbomb-through-table sequence that sent the crowd into a frenzy.

ANTONIO LEE: Apparently nobody told Emo Extreme this is a wrestling match.

CODY LEWIS: I’m not volunteering to tell them.

The decisive moment came outside the ring. Gamba was unable to recover from the damage and beat the referee’s count. Emo Extreme took the victory and, more importantly, earned a significant confidence boost before the Tag Team Championship Tournament.

WINNERS: EMO EXTREME BY COUNT-OUT

Match 4: M.A. Randolph vs. Alexander Zukov

M.A. Randolph returned to a huge Philadelphia reaction, but Alexander Zukov made certain the four-time World Champion had to earn every bit of it. Zukov matched Randolph physically and repeatedly threatened to take control, reminding everyone that the Landell Championship Tournament field is loaded with dangerous opponents.

Randolph eventually created his opening and planted Zukov with the New York Ave Suplex for the three-count.

WINNER: M.A. RANDOLPH VIA NEW YORK AVE SUPLEX

M.A. looked into the camera, smiled and offered one short line before heading up the aisle.

M.A. RANDOLPH: Fourteen months off… still works.

Backstage: Malice Has Not Forgotten

Lizzy caught up with Malice before the six-man tag. The former World Champion made it clear that he did not view himself as a man trying to reclaim something he had lost.

MALICE: Why is everyone pretending I’m trying to become World Champion? I was World Champion.

When Lizzy mentioned Ozzie Spellman’s decision to reset every championship, Malice’s expression hardened.

MALICE: Ozzie Spellman can take my name off a championship belt. He can’t take the fact that nobody beat me.

With that, Malice walked away, leaving no doubt that he considers the World Championship Tournament less of a fresh start and more of an insult that needs to be corrected.

Match 5: Amanda Nunes & Pen Pen vs. Kitty Kat Maiden & Pamela

The women’s tag team match carried a very different kind of importance. Amanda Nunes entered as the last Women’s Champion before the shutdown, while Pen Pen continues chasing the first championship reign of her career. Across the ring stood two accomplished former champions in Kitty Kat Maiden and Pamela.

The match ended with Pen Pen catching Kitty with a Buzzsaw Kick and scoring the pinfall. Amanda immediately raised her partner’s hand, but Antonio Lee noticed something in the former champion’s expression.

WINNERS: AMANDA NUNES & PEN PEN — PEN PEN PINNED KITTY KAT MAIDEN

ANTONIO LEE: Look at Amanda. She’s smiling, but she’s scouting her.

All four women are headed to the same tournament. On this night, Pen Pen was the one who left with the biggest statement.

Match 6: Blackwood Butcher vs. Justo

The atmosphere changed again when Blackwood Butcher stepped into the ring with former World Champion Justo. Justo refused to be intimidated and created several genuine opportunities, but Blackwood continued dragging the match back into the kind of violent, grinding fight he wanted.

A crushing kneedrop finally put Justo away. Blackwood did not celebrate. He stayed over his fallen opponent and held up one finger.

WINNER: BLACKWOOD BUTCHER VIA KNEEDROP

BLACKWOOD BUTCHER: One.

He then stared into the hard camera and added two words: “Seven more.” With eight men entered in the World Championship Tournament, the meaning was obvious. Blackwood had started counting bodies.

Match 7: Fatal Three-Way — Raine Barlow vs. Joshua James vs. All-American Jim Ambers

Three Television Championship Tournament entrants collided in one of the most unpredictable matches of the night. Alliances formed and disappeared almost immediately. Joshua James and Jim Ambers briefly worked together against Raine Barlow, only to begin fighting each other moments later. Raine repeatedly came close to taking control, at one point trapping Ambers in the Smasher Clutch and later nearly pinning Joshua before Ambers broke up the fall.

The finish came when Joshua caught Ambers with a Scoop Powerslam. Raine was unable to stop the count.

WINNER: JOSHUA JAMES — PINNED ALL-AMERICAN JIM AMBERS WITH A SCOOP POWERSLAM

Joshua had defeated two major names in one match, but there was an important detail: the former Television Champion Raine Barlow had not been pinned.

Match 8: Ian LeSabre & Brahma vs. Cousin Vinny & Jimmy James

Years of NAPWA history surrounded this match. Ian LeSabre’s relationships with Jimmy James and Cousin Vinny have passed through friendship, family, rivalry, hatred and eventual reconciliation. With Colt Heafy at ringside, the four men wrestled a hard, competitive match that felt personal without ever becoming hateful.

Ian and Jimmy traded holds and near-falls. Vinny repeatedly used his power to change the momentum. Brahma nearly trapped Vinny in the Crushing Bearhug, but the veteran strongman survived. After twenty-seven minutes, Vinny finally caught Brahma and drove him down with a Powerbomb for the three-count.

WINNERS: COUSIN VINNY & JIMMY JAMES — VINNY PINNED BRAHMA WITH A POWERBOMB

After the bell, Jimmy approached Ian and offered his hand. Ian accepted. Vinny then stood across from Brahma. After a long stare, Brahma also accepted the handshake. The crowd responded warmly. Colt Heafy did not.

ANTONIO LEE: Something tells me The Director isn’t enjoying this reunion nearly as much as everybody else.

Backstage: Joshua James Meets Raine Barlow

Lizzy interviewed Joshua James after his Fatal Three-Way victory, congratulating him on defeating two former Television Champions. Joshua immediately corrected the framing.

JOSHUA JAMES: Hold on. I beat Jim Ambers. Raine was there.

That brought Raine Barlow into the shot.

RAINE BARLOW: That’s funny, because I don’t remember you beating me.

JOSHUA JAMES: Didn’t say I did.

RAINE BARLOW: Good. Then we’re clear.

JOSHUA JAMES: We’re clear until Atlantic City.

RAINE BARLOW: Then let’s hope you make it far enough to find me.

There was no fight. There did not need to be one. The Television Championship Tournament had just gained another personal issue.

Match 9: Six-Man Tag — Malice & The Olympians vs. FOE, Cortez Haynes & Tonan

The six-man tag featured four World Championship Tournament entrants and one of the Tag Team Tournament’s most accomplished teams. From the opening bell, FOE wanted Malice. Malice did everything possible to make sure somebody else was legal whenever FOE entered the ring.

ANTONIO LEE: He keeps saying he’s the World Champion. Apparently the World Champion doesn’t want anything to do with FOE.

Eventually the match broke down. FOE and Malice finally collided while Cortez Haynes and Apollo Jackson fought elsewhere. That left Mighty Zeus and Tonan in the center of the ring. Zeus exploded with the Thunder Bolt Double Superman Punch and scored the pinfall.

WINNERS: MALICE & THE OLYMPIANS — MIGHTY ZEUS PINNED TONAN

The result carried extra weight. Mighty Zeus is headed to the International Championship Tournament, and he had just pinned a man entered in the World Championship field. Cody Lewis made sure viewers understood the significance: nobody should overlook Zeus in Atlantic City.

Main Event: Brymstone & Braden Brookens vs. King Stratosphere & The Hollywood Star

The main event connected the final days of the old NAPWA directly to the new beginning. Brymstone and Braden “The Beast” Brookens were the World Tag Team Champions when the promotion closed. Across the ring, King Stratosphere and The Hollywood Star were looking to make the Strat side of the roster impossible to ignore.

The match stretched deep into the night, with both teams trading control and repeated double-team sequences. Late in the contest, Hollywood Star found the opening he needed and caught Brymstone with the Dark Matter Reverse S.T.O.

One. Two. Three.

WINNERS: KING STRATOSPHERE & THE HOLLYWOOD STAR — HOLLYWOOD STAR PINNED BRYMSTONE

The result was enormous. Hollywood Star had not pinned Brookens. He had pinned Brymstone — a four-time World Champion and one-half of the team that held the Tag Team Championship when NAPWA shut down.

Closing Scene: The Olympians Send a Message

Stratosphere and Hollywood Star celebrated in the ring as King Strat pointed down at Brymstone and shouted toward the camera. Then The Olympians’ music hit. Mighty Zeus and Apollo Jackson stepped onto the stage after already earning a victory earlier in the night.

The two teams traded words from opposite ends of the arena. Hollywood Star motioned for the Olympians to come down. Zeus answered by pointing to himself and Apollo before making the championship-belt gesture around his waist.

CODY LEWIS: Are we looking at next Friday’s main event?

ANTONIO LEE: I’ll take it!

As the camera alternated between The Olympians and King Stratosphere & The Hollywood Star, Brymstone slowly returned to his feet behind the winners. His eyes never left Hollywood Star. One victory had apparently created two very different problems for the man from Hollywood.

CODY LEWIS: NAPWA is back — and if this was only night one, what in the world is waiting for us in Atlantic City?

What Night One Set in Motion

The first show of the revived NAPWA did much more than produce winners and losers. Joshua James earned a major victory, but Raine Barlow immediately reminded him that he was never pinned. Hollywood Star scored one of the biggest wins of the night by pinning Brymstone, only to draw the attention of both The Olympians and the man he had just defeated. Pen Pen suddenly looks dangerous in the Women’s Championship picture. Mighty Zeus quietly strengthened his International Championship case by pinning a World Tournament entrant. Blackwood Butcher began counting prospective victims. Malice continues to insist he was never truly dethroned. And The Director Colt Heafy may already be uncomfortable with Ian LeSabre reconnecting with the people he once called family.

Most importantly, no championship was awarded. The old hierarchy still matters, but it guarantees nothing. Every wrestler now has the same destination: Atlantic City, where NAPWA will determine who rises from the ashes as champion.
